New improved TTA Website
The TTA now has a beautiful website! It has been completely redesigned to make it cleaner, easier to understand, and use.
Many thanks to Arnab Majumdar for volunteering to undertake this major project and for delivering an excellent site for our Membership’s news and archives!

Above Guideline Increase (AGI) on balcony work
Shiplake has submitted a request to the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) for an increase of 2.27% in rent for the repair work done on the balconies over the last 3 years. This increase will be in addition to the 2.2% annual rent increase authorized under Provincial rent-control guidelines for 2020.
Shiplake’s application to the LTB asks that the AGI take effect as of April 1 of this year. As the LTB is significantly backlogged, we will not know for many months the final increase the LTB will award Shiplake. So, you do not have to pay this additional increase (whatever the amount) until it has been approved by the LTB.
However, whatever amount the LTB allows will be retroactive to April 1, 2020, and payable as of the date of your individual lease renewal.
While an Application for an AGI by the Landlord for capital projects is legal, we intend to challenge this Application at the LTB with the help of our paralegal.
